What Does a Day in the Life of Alex Look Like?
What Attracted You to Your Career?
I always wanted something that had a good balance of creativity and order.
Agency life is so unique in that it offers a fast-paced environment and the chance to work with amazingly talented people, but with such a varied amount of work that it pushes you to learn something new every day.
Best Thing About Your Job?
Working with amazing people. The Honeybees are a supremely talented and interesting bunch, so there’s always a lot of laughter and some supremely-cool ideas bouncing around the office. Then we have our wonderful clients, who are as much a part of our team as the people in the office. With such a mix of clients in location, industry and personality, the variety is really exciting!
Most Challenging Thing About Your Job?
Things can change so fast and, with so many clients, there’s always a lot going on. Keeping track of everything at once is an interesting challenge, but it’s certainly never boring!
Most Memorable Advice You’ve Been Given?
“Good people are the difference between a job you like and a job you love.”
One Lesson You’ve Learned on the Job?
Nothing is set in stone and things can change very quickly. Flexibility is one of the most important skills you can develop.
One Item You Can’t Live Without?
My phone – I like to stay connected.
What Tool Do You Find Most Useful at Work?
Google tools are super important to me. I have Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Docs open all of the time. We also use an awesome project management tool called Basecamp, which lets me keep track of our projects, communicate with clients and post updates all in one place.
What’s One Thing from Your Bucket List That You Have Done or Want to Do?
Earlier this year, I completed my 30-by-30 goal: to visit thirty different countries before my thirtieth birthday. (The thirtieth was Jamaica, in case you were wondering!)
